And we are on our way home!

We had a great service last night at the villa to wrap up the week! We shared testimonies and sang. It was a wonderful time to talk about how God has worked in our hearts this week. And now at 5 in the morning we are off to the airport!!

Last day on the island...tons of fun!!

We woke up this morning and headed out to Ocho Rios for some fun at the Dunns River Falls. We stopped at a place where Clombus once landed and got some amazing pics. When we arrived at Ocho we shopped at the market place and that was a fun experience for all. Before we hit the falls we ate Lunch at the Ruins at the Falls. Great place to eat! All you can eat right next to several water falls. The entire group climbed the falls at least twice and we had a blast. We are getting ready to enjoy some steaks at the villa and talk about our adventure in just a few minutes. I have posted our latest pics at facebook if you want to take a peek. See you tomorrow!!

Day 3 was an action packed blessing from God!

Tuesday we worked at the Bible College in the mountains and the teens did a great job. We painted, repaired and cleaned. On the way back from the college bus #2 hit a pothole and blew out the back tire and bent the rim. When we got out to fix it we found the jack was broken and we were 45 minutes from MoBay! So the guys in the group lifted the bus while two of us took the old tire off and put the new tire on...what fun! VBS was a huge blessing. We had 144 kids and they really enjoyed all the activities. My brother-in-law is leading a team to Jamaica in two weeks and he has a couple parents trying everything they can to stop the trip for safety reasons. Last night as I witnessed the impact our teens are having on the lives and souls of these children it made me proud that we are a church that puts our trust in God and keeps our eyes focused on making a difference for Him in this world. What a life changing trip this has been already!

Finally caught a weak wireless connection

We are on the island and already wiped out! We have been involved in ministry from sun up to sun down and the teens are loving it. Yesterday we went to a public school in Dumfries and sang a song, put on a skit and gave a short devo. We then did canvasing for the new church that Cletis and Tammy want to start in the Bay area. Last night, we had a very successful VBS at Bethel with 132 kids...it was a little crazy but very rewarding as several kids made decisions to accept Christ as Savior!! Getting ready to head out to the Island!!

After an 11 hour layover and everyone in the group daring Alivia to do something bigger than she did the last hour...we are finally about to board our final flight. Pray that this week will be a great week for our teens and the people we minister to!

So the first flight to Miami was interesting!!

Group #1 had to be at the airport at 4 am and American Airlines gave us trouble because our entire group was not traveling together. I had to remind them that we were traveling together until THEY separated us!!! Then they said that the permission slips had to be notarized...really easy to find a notary at 4 am!!! Then they tell me that I need a permission slip for the 6 year old in the group. I tell them that he is my son and they say "well...we need a slip from his mom!" Unbelievable!! We are waiting on the 2nd group and we are excited to get to the island!

Yard Sale Success!!!

Great work on the yard sale this weekend everyone. I don't have a total dollar amount for what we raised but I have heard some big numbers from several of you. A special thanks goes out to Wendy for her hard work on the bake sale...she raised $92.00 that went directly into the general mission support fund. Yard Sale Tomorrow!!

Don't forget that we will be at the church tonight at 7pm to help you get your "stuff" set up and ready to go for the morning. Try to be at the church at no later than 5:45 am and be ready to sell, sell, sell!!!

Just in case you are interested - Flight Times

All but six of us are flying out on June 19th at 11 am from Charlotte NC to Miami. We will meet at the church at 6:45 am and head down to Charlotte. Please let Mike know if you have other plans to get to the airport. We will arrive back in Charlotte on June 25th at around 6:40 pm. Parents are invited to pick their teen up from the airport if they would like to.

Finally Airline tickets are secure!!

We are flying out of Charlotte at 11 am on June 19th and arriving in Montego Bay at 7:40 pm. I will post our flight itinerary this weekend.

Taco Dinner a Sucess!!

Thanks to the hard work of the teens on Wednesday...the taco dinner was very successful. Sue Millican did a fantastic job of organizing the event. We raised $185.00 in support in that one night. See the front page of the blog for pictures from the dinner. Don't forget that we have some really cool events coming in the weeks ahead. Yard sale, car wash, and pin the tail on Pastor Tim competition!

Wow...No love for Nathan!!

Our poll of the week is showing no love for Nathan Midkiff. I guess several in our group think that Nathan is asleep on the job when it comes to support raising. Come on Nathan...prove them wrong!

Reminder: Taco Dinner Wednesday Night

Don't forget to get to the church early on Wednesday to help set up for the taco dinner. Great way to keep that support coming in!

Working Hard to Raise that Support

I am very proud of our teens as I noticed they worked very hard today to get the word out that they need support. I saw support letters being handed out and candy bars being sold! Keep up the good work!!
